About the Fellowship

The fellowship is an advanced training program in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Cardiac Surgery designed to complement the initial training of the Cardiovascular Surgeon, introducing them to the most modern areas of the specialty: minimally invasive and robotic surgery.

Who the advanced training program is for

Cardiovascular Surgeons who have completed a residency accredited by Brazil's Ministry of Education (MEC) or who hold a Specialist Title in Cardiovascular Surgery (AMB).

*MEC-accredited Cardiovascular Surgery residents who will complete their residency by February 2026 may take part in this selection process with a letter signed by the Head of Service and the Medical Residency Committee (COREME) responsible, confirming their affiliation. If approved, enrollment will only be finalized upon proof of completed residency.

Qualification obtained in the program

At the end of the program, after presenting a completion project and a performance evaluation, the trainee will receive a certificate of Advanced Training in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Cardiac Surgery.

Objectives

By the end of the program, the trainee will be able to:

  • Identify patients who are candidates for minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery.
  • Prepare surgical access routes for minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery.
  • Take part in the pre-, intra-, and postoperative phases of patients undergoing minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery.

Program and Methodology fellowship program

The program consists of rotations totaling 2,080 hours, with a minimum attendance of 40 hours per week in the operating room, ICU, outpatient clinic, and in-hospital rounds, as well as participation in the cardiac surgery/cardiology meetings of the hospitals where the group practices:

  • Cardiac Surgery meetings (monthly).
  • Cardiology Scientific meetings (monthly).
